I really wish I would remember to take progress photos of my cakes. I get into the zone of creating and totally forget to do this.
So some of you are maybe familiar with the “aliens” movie franchise. My brief for the cake this last weekend was to make a cake from the movie. The more gore the better. My clients are obviously fans of this genre.
So I was originally going to create a different creepy critter, but saw that there were already numerous cakes like that one.
I ended up creating the “facehugger” creepy critter. I have to admit that when i finished covering the cake in fondant I wasn’t sure that I had made the right decision. But boy did it come together after I had airbrushed the cake. The colours came out so well. I even impressed myself as I’m no star using an airbrush. Which reminds me I really need to find a short course on how to use it properly.
Then once the cake was airbrushed I added the “facehugger” creepy critter. I choose not to airbrush it as my control in stopping overspray isn’t very good. So instead I coloured the fondant a shade of ivory, and then used petal dust to finish the shading. And to finish I set the colour of the ”facehugger” with some steam.
ps I don’t watch scary movies, so I hope I have done this justice……
sweet dreams sweet peeps (or for me this is what nightmares are made from)
Helen 😘
